I think this is a great idea, i haven't had the chance to pick up The Legend Of Zelda: Link Between Worlds or Bravely Default. This is a good chance to pick both of the titles up

MythtendoJuly 14, 2014

Trying to save up for an apartment, so maybe this isn't a good thing LOL.  I'm interested in Pokemon X and Tomodachi Life.

Leo13July 14, 2014

If I jump in it'll be for a Mario Party and Pokemon or Kirby. I already have Zelda and I don't think I'll like the others

Those are the ones I'd choose as well although part of me is tempted to take Mario Party in place of Zelda just so that my joke vote of buying it before Zelda and Mario 3D World in Mop it up's survey from last year comes true.

This is pretty irresistible. Of these, I only have Zelda, so I'm thinking of trying Bravely Default and Pokemon.

I have never played a Pokemon game and always want to give it a go. Kirby is tempting but reportedly pretty easy, and Yoshi has underwhelmed reviewers. Tomodachi is tempting, but I just played Animal Crossing not long ago, and the NWR review didn't make it sound appealing to me. I'm not that invested in my Miis. So, Pokemon and Bravely Default!

nickmitchJuly 15, 2014

Don't remember if I bought Bravely Default or  not :P, but I know I don't have Yoshi or Pokemon X, so I'll be partaking either way.

Mop it upJuly 15, 2014

I just have Zelda of these so this is a good deal for me, lots to choose from. I think I would go with Pokemon X and Bravely Default, since I think these games have less potential to drop in price than the others. I also want Mario Golf, but since it is $5-10 less than everything else, it isn't the best value of the bunch.

If I wanted to get 4 games I'd probably have to do separate orders...

Actually, most of these games have very little potential to drop.  Maybe Bravely Default--  in the DS generation, Square games tended to stay in print and drop down to the sub $20 range.  But the 1st party stuff....not likely.    Any of the DS Kirby games, Mario Party, etc. all stayed pretty much near initial MSRP.  The only 1st party games that went below $20 were heavily marketed games (which I presume had larger print runs) like Rhythm Heaven and Brain Age, and 1st party published, non-character RPG's like Glory of Heracles, Golden Sun, and DQ9.

So I'd take advantage of this deal.  In fact, I am!  Say hi if you see me at Best Buy, I'll be the one carrying a stack of 6 3DS games (Pokemon X, Mario Party, Mario Golf, Zelda, Yoshi, Kirby)

This might be true for new copies, but these games got cheap used. I expect the same will happen for most of these 3DS games, especially Yoshi's New Island, which I predict will drop like a rock since many peop0le seem to not like it.

Bravely Default is published by Nintendo, so I think it will follow the same first-party pricing trends.

Ian SaneJuly 16, 2014

There are some good choices there for titles I wouldn't mind as my free game but unfortunately there isn't a game in the list I don't already own that I've been meaning to buy and there isn't a combo of two where paying half price for each is really worth my while.  It's a good deal, just doesn't personally work for me.

Bravely Default and Pokemon are the only two 3DS games I own (I'm borrowing Zelda from my brother so I don't see a particular need to buy it) and if that's the combo you're thinking of I endorse it.  Hell both games are large RPGs so they probably have the most bang for your buck in terms of sheer content and both are two of the most user-friendly RPGs I've ever played, providing options to reduce some of the more frustrating elements of past Pokemon and Final Fantasy games.

Are Canadian Best Buy stores offering this buy one get one free 3DS game deal too?

Can someone explain to me why it is that everyone wants Pokemon X and no body wants Pokemon Y? I've thought about getting the game, but if I do I'm planning on Y. Is there some up side to X that I don't see?

All signs point to "lol no".

Exclusive Fairy legendary?

It may just be shorthand for both games since X is the first one alphabetically.

Ian SaneJuly 18, 2014

I got Pokemon X for a very specific reason...

... my brother was getting Y.  I don't know why he wanted that one but my approach was simply to take the opposite version than what he had.

I did a Google search on this topic to help me decide. And there are only a few cosmetic differences between the two, so it's probably just the name that seems catchier to consumers.

Here's the Kotaku breakdown: http://kotaku.com/which-version-should-you-buy-pokemon-x-or-pokemon-y-1444397068

People will ask you what version you got; it's like picking a sports team. That's part of what makes it all so fun, even if there aren't too many differences between the versions. UPDATE: Based purely on anecdotal evidence, if you want to be a cool kid, you should pick Pokemon Y...most people seem to be getting Pokemon X.
...
Personally, I think Pokemon X has most of the cooler Pokemon, but hey. That's just like, my opinion, man.

Mop it upJuly 18, 2014

I know two people with Y so I have a slight benefit in choosing X.

EiksirfJuly 21, 2014

So this sale has been a challenge for me. The stores near me only had the Pokemon games, and even for those I had to ask someone to find them in the back. So, I purchased Pokemon X and my salesperson actually came through with a gift card I could use to pick up Bravely Default for free later on. It's sold out everywhere near me - and everywhere not even remotely near me. Bestbuy.com says it can't be shipped, and it also can't be picked up in any stores, so I wrote to them to see how I can buy the game from them. To be continued...

kokumakerJuly 23, 2014

This sale has been a giant steaming pile of horse crap. ALL the games were totally sold out (online and in stores, since I just learned that all the online shipping is done from the stores!) within 24 hours. 24 hours!! How can they have a week-long sale without sufficient stock to last 24 hours? I'm pissed. I emailed Best Buy about this situation three days ago. So far, crickets. I may never shop at Best Buy again after this bullshit.

StratosJuly 23, 2014

Should have ordered early. I ordered Sunday afternoon. I am getting the items in three separate packages which makes sense if they are shipped from stores and stock was low everywhere.

I ordered a Pro controller, Link Between Worlds and Yoshi's New Island for my sister because we agreed to go in together and split the costs. I do wish that the black Pros were on sale as well because I would have gotten one of those too. I did almost buy two white ones but I'll wait for another sale for the rest.

EiksirfJuly 25, 2014

I've been checking my online shopping cart every day since Sunday to see if Bravely Default and Mario Golf was re-stocked at any stores near me. Today, Best Buy had this notification for me:

Quote:

We're sorry! Due to high demand, the status of one or more of your items has changed.

Sold Out: Bravely Default - Nintendo 3DS This item has been removed from your order.
Sold Out: Mario Golf: World Tour - Nintendo 3DS This item has been removed from your order.

AdrockJuly 25, 2014

Aw, bummer.

I passed on the games because I already have A Link Between Worlds so I'd only be getting a game I didn't really want just to get another game I didn't really want. I bought a Wii U Pro Controller on Sunday. I had to buy and price match it at Toys R Us because Best Buy was sold out.

Mop it upJuly 26, 2014

I have a feeling that most of the games were bought by hoarders/resellers.

I haven't gotten around to BB yet, and fully expect Pokemon and/or Kirby will be sold out by now. :/ Not interested in a pro controller--hated the face button placement when I tried it at Jonny's place.

nickmitchJuly 26, 2014

Went to my local BB.  Missed out. :^/

Fixed that for you

Yeah, the whole 3DS section was picked pretty dry. Even stuff not on sale.

EiksirfJuly 28, 2014

Bravely Default (and everything else) is still out of stock all over my state. Best Buy does not issue rainchecks for its promotions.

BlackNMild2k1July 28, 2014

I got a Pro Controller.

They were sold out in store, so I went to the customer service desk and asked for a voucher/raincheck.
They instead went in their system and ordered one from the Best Buy Private Stock. picked it up in the store 3 days later. also used the $10 gift cards from the 2 wiimotes that were bought to pay for most of it. So all is good over here.
