The winner of this bout, and NEW Nintendo World Champion...
For the first time since 1990, someone wears the crown of the Nintendo World Champion.
John "John Numbers" Goldberg triumphed over a series of invited guests and national qualifiers to become the champion, defeating Cosmo Walker in the final round of head-to-head Super Mario Maker.
The tournament format saw 16 players compete in a serious of elimination challenges leading up to the grand final.
The list of games:
- 1st round: Splatoon
- 1st round loser's bracket ("The Underground"): The Legend of Zelda (BSG4000 over TMR, Jovenshire, MrBlarney)
- 2nd round: Blastball
- 2nd round Underground: Super Metroid (Sinister1 over Essentia, Timzy88, Fernsig01, BSG4000)
- 3rd round: Mario Kart 8 200cc
- 3rd round Underground: Balloon Fight (Cosmo over JKSNBLKSN, Bananas, Packie, Sinister1, Arin)
- 4th round: Super Smash Bros Wii U: John Numbers and Cosmo advance over Trihex and Mad Mage
- Grand Final: Super Mario Maker.
As a side attraction, Reggie Fils-Amie faced off against 2014 E3 Smash Bros champion Hungrybox in an exhibition with Reggie using Ryu. Hungrybox walked over Reggie 12-2 in a 4 minute match at Final Destination.
