The Demon King is set to slay the battlefields in the upcoming Zelda title.
Ganondorf, Zant, and Ghirahim have been confirmed to be playable characters in Hyrule Warriors, which is due out September 26 in North America.
The Direct mentioned that many of the settings, characters and items seen in the game were from Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess. You can use a giant bombchu to blow up obstacles, for example, or you can use the hookshot to bring the moon from Majora's Mask down on top of unsuspecting enemies. Additionally, a Chain Chomp will be a weapon in the game, calling back to the Mario enemy's appearance in Link's Awakening.
Also detailed was the retro-themed Adventure Mode, which is reminiscent of the original Legend of Zelda, is an added mode where players set out on missions based on the game and clear fields for rare items and weapons, as well as leveling up spells and weapons as you collect items on the field.
Two-player co-op was also confirmed, with GamePad and TV play being shown simultaneously on both screens. When this occurs, the game will run at a slightly lower resolution.
So far, the full list of characters, as confirmed in a recent Nintendo Direct, includes the three villains, Link, Zelda, Midna, Shiek, Darunia, Ruto, Agitha, Fi, and Lana.
Hyrule Warriors is scheduled for release on September 26 in North America. Japan will get it on August 14, while Europe will receive it on September 19, with the Australian release following the next day.
