WayForward’s third Shantae game will come to both current Nintendo platforms by late summer.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, originally announced as a 3DS exclusive, is now scheduled to come to Wii U as well.
The Wii U version will feature the same in-game pixel art that IntiCreates designed for the 3DS version, but the presentation on the home console version will be enhanced by mixing in HD illustrations for menus, cutscenes, and dialogue. Off-TV play will also be available for those playing on Wii U.
Both versions are set to include touch screen-based inventory management and a real-time mapping system. Gameplay is also centered around new weapons and abilities due to the title character’s inability to use her traditional dance magic. The game is said to feature an expanded scope, containing double the content of the last game in the series, 2010’s Shantae: Risky’s Revenge.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse was recently delayed from its March 2014 release date, but it’s now locked in to hit the eShop in late summer. Check out a new trailer for the game below.
