The video conference will focus on upcoming 3DS and Wii U games.

NoA and NoE have both confirmed Nintendo Direct conferences for tomorrow.

The North American Nintendo Direct will be focusing on upcoming Wii U and 3DS games and will air Thursday at 06:00 PT/09:00 ET. The presentation can be watched right over here.

Nintendo of Europe's Nintendo Direct will solely focus on games for the Nintendo 3DS and will be hosted by NoE president Satoru Shibata and global president Satoru Iwata. Viewers can enjoy various announcements starting 14:00 GMT/15:00 CET over at this page.

Talkback

CericFebruary 13, 2013

NoA actually doing some Damage Control.  Wow.  They'll fail at it but, I'll applaud the effort.

Disco StuFebruary 13, 2013

Oh man, I hope it's not a 'Reggie-direct'.  The videos hosted by Reggie are always soooo boring.  Even when the information itself is exciting, they're boring.

How about a video of Iwata just soothing us, promising that everything will be OK, games are coming, just be patient.

zeeroidFebruary 13, 2013

Wasn't the last Nintendo Direct "damage control"? lol
I don't know what the hell this is. Probably just your average "show new footage of upcoming games", and maybe a couple localization announcements.

AdrockFebruary 13, 2013

Does it matter what this is for? I love the Nintendo Direct things. It's such a great way of connecting directly with fans. Looking forward to this.

MonteblancoFebruary 13, 2013

I don't believe there will be any "damage control" at all. The reality is most Nintendo customers have no idea Ubisoft screwed the WiiU's version of Rayman or that the 3DS is underperforming in the USA. More likely, it will be more of the same, highlighting the forthcoming games, such as Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon, and Castlevania. Considering Japan is not having its own episode, I speculate they will announce and demonstrate the new Animal Crossing, which was already released there.

Pixelated PixiesFebruary 13, 2013

My 3DS is dying. Give it something to play NOE!

styg422February 13, 2013

Come on Animal Crossing release date!

CericFebruary 13, 2013

Yes, I think it will be Damage Control.  Why because the NoE Nintendo Direct is 3DS only by indication.  The last Nintendo Direct said that a 3DS one would be coming.  The Direct in and of itself may not be for Damage Control but, the NoA part talking about the WiiU sure is.

Hello....
Today I brought along my Cat Sam to this Nintendo Direct.
To share with you today.
Now Imagine that you are Sam here.
*starts to pet Sam*
It'll be OK.
Daddy Still loves you.
Games are coming Sam.
It will be ok.
*Stops Petting Sam*
I would like to Thank You for watching this Nintendo Direct.

Hello....
Today I brought along my Cat Sam to this Nintendo Direct.
To share with you today.
Now Imagine that you are Sam here.
*starts to pet Sam*
Now when Sam starts complaining about not getting enough milk...
*continues to pet Sam*
His owner gets...upset.
When I get upset, things get hurt.
*grips Sam by the neck, twisting his head right while whipping the body to the left with a sharp crack*
You got the message bitches?
*drops the body on the floor and walks off camera*

RazorkidFebruary 13, 2013

Nintendo Directs always puts a smile on my face :)

xcwarriorFebruary 13, 2013

Just give us some release dates. That would be enough.

Though I would like the following localized: Bravely Default, Layton vs Ace Attorney, Project X for NA.

For Wii U, how about DRAGON QUEST X already!

And please end the show with Reggie looking right into the camera, say "Hey Ubisoft, this is for you." And then give them the finger.

Best Nintendo Direct EVER.

I get called cynical by some RFN listeners which always surprises me because I'm never as down on these Nintendo Direct announcements as the NWR readers are!

Due to audience I would cut him off right before he got his hand into position.  Implying thats what happened.

UltraClaytonFebruary 13, 2013

Hopefully some Wii U 3rd party talk

HeyItsMeFebruary 13, 2013

Oh gee. A Valentine's gift for me Nintendo you shouldn't have. ;P

broodwarsFebruary 13, 2013

Well, it'll take about 30 seconds for Reggie to go through the upcoming Wii U games (a full minute if it's Iwata).  As for 3DS, I expect we'll be hearing about Castlevania; HarmoKnight; and Luigi's Mansion 2.  I can't think of any other notable upcoming 3DS games at the moment. Maybe we'll see one of Nintendo's increasingly-frequent apologies for the way they've bungled the Fire Emblem physical release.

SorenFebruary 13, 2013

I'm ready to have my massive expectations shot down by Reggie.

Predictions
- Wii Fit U gets a release date. (Hey remember when this was part of the launch window?)
- Game & Wario gets a release date. (Also outside of the launch window.
- Animal Crossing gets a release date.
- Details on the Spring update?
- Dragon Quest X for NA revealed?

Fatty The HuttFebruary 13, 2013

Oh, Soren, I am with you but I think a DQX announcement is too much to hope for.
Likely the Wii U component will be brief and focus on Lego City Undercover. Maybe Wii Fit U but I figure that will get its own Direct later on.
Mostly 3DS focussing on Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing.

Well most Nintendo customers are unaware of Nintendo Direct period.  I would figure anyone that actually pays attention to this stuff would also know about the Rayman thing.  So it could be damage control.

But then our last Nintendo Direct was very Wii U focused so this might just be the time to do a 3DS focused one to balance things out.

FjurbanskiFebruary 13, 2013

I think we'll mostly get a bunch of release dates. Maybe some localization if we're lucky.

KhushrenadaFebruary 13, 2013

Oooh. Maybe Wii U Fit: Breakdancing Edition. Let's see if I can keep derailing talkback threads with this.

Pics Break Dancing on the Board or it won't be derailed.

They said in the last on that a 3DS focus one was coming.  I think this is it but, as noted in the article, NoA is the only one that is mentioning WiiU.  Add with that as probably being the branch most effected by Rayman problem I think its the logical conclusion.

azekeFebruary 13, 2013

Discrepancy between American and European Nintendo Directs worries me.

Will there be more Scribblenauts-like affair where Wii U game is delayed for half a year after US release?

jwristonFebruary 13, 2013

Wow... Some of you guys are total downers. I think it's great that Nintendo is open with their fans and I don't know about all of you, but I'm still playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii U and Fire Emblem. Between those two and life, my plate is pretty full. Anything other than what we know about upcoming releases is gravy for me.

HairyChestFebruary 13, 2013

Wii u price drop + new 3DS xl colors incoming + first trailer of zelda 3ds

If they do end up dropping the Wii U's price, it's not going to be now. At the earliest it'll be in April, after the start of the new fiscal year.

CericFebruary 13, 2013

Agree.  Price drop at earliest will be after the Fiscal year.  Though I really don't Price Drop ever.

CaterkillerMatthew Osborne, Contributing WriterFebruary 13, 2013

The last ND was so good it will make up for any possible disappointments to come for the next 2 NDs. Not that I'm really expecting anything from this one aside from release dates.

jvgsjeffFebruary 13, 2013

I'm not expecting any big announcements, but I'm really hoping Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pikmin 3 get release dates. We've been waiting years for those games.

Mop it upFebruary 13, 2013

I'm also hoping this is the release date edition. That's about all I'm expecting, I don't think there will be any new games mentioned. But you never know.

Quick, someone give me another name for Metroid: Other M 2 so I can have rock bottom expectations.

Although I will say this: If HarmoKnight gets Dillon's Rolling Western'd (IE: On sale tomorrow), I will have it bought within the hour.

AVFebruary 13, 2013

please let me use wii virtual console on 3DS, I will pay to be able to do this.

miiverse for 3DS is must

i want some western games.

I guess we will hear about that Google maps thing

TheFleeceFebruary 14, 2013

I'm with everyone else holding out for Animal Crossing news. I'd also really like to hear about Miiverse on the 3DS, but I'm not sure since not even Nintendo has said much about it. Any 3DS news in general is best for me since that's all I'm playing nowadays.

Pixelated PixiesFebruary 14, 2013

I'm sitting here waiting for the NOE Direct to start and just thought I'd take stock of the 3DS retail games I've owned since purchasing the system. The last retail game I bought for the 3DS was Sticker Star. The last one I bought and actually thought was any good was Mario 3D Kart, and even that wasn't particularly exciting. That's when I came to the very sad realisation that the only 3DS retail release that I've enjoyed wholeheartedly is 3D Land.

Part of it has to do with my tastes no doubt (NSMB didn't really do anything for me , I don't enjoy Resident Evil games so Revelations was out, and I thought Uprising was ill-conceived), but it's really sad to think that there's only one retail release on the platform that I can point to as being exceptional (Awakening looks and sounds amazing but I won't know for myself until April).

Here's hoping that Nintendo have some killer games lined up.

2D handheld Metroid, 2D handheld Metroid, 2D handheld Metroid

...Ahem

azekeFebruary 14, 2013

That was a great Direct.

Lots of games, eShop and retail, old and new.

Interested in DKCR 3D, Mario & Luigi.

Mario AND Donkey Kong looks okay, but it saddens me to see sequels the brilliant DK'94 turned into mediocre Lemmings clones.

That falling stone in a well eShop game looks fun.

Wii Street U -- i am trying this out right now. It's neat all right. Not all that useful for me, as i expected.

When i asked for what's the point of that, and someone here said it's cool to check your destinations if you go somewhere. Well, i will be going to Malaysia, and it's not covered by this. And of course my home is not covered too, me being in the middle of nowhere.

I went to London and tried to find Baker Street 221b but found some McDonalds... Maybe i'm doing something wrong.

ejamerFebruary 14, 2013

So any highlights? I didn't care enough to watch because I'm already kind of excited about 3DS this year and didn't expect any announcements to really improve my outlook.

(Seriously, there are a lot of meaty games I want for the system this year. Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Monster Hunter, Etrian Odyssey, Project X Zone, maybe Castlevania... Plus the eShop goodness should continue to roll along and I've got some older games to catch up on. 3DS had a tough time last year, but things are really looking good now.)

TheFleeceFebruary 14, 2013

Ejamer based on your list you should watch the whole thing. They touch on a number of those titles as well as a slew of Eshop titles and sales going on. It was a great Nintendo Direct this time. Animal Crossing FTW!

Pixelated PixiesFebruary 14, 2013

I don't think I'll ever understand what the appeal of Animal Crossing is. It completely eludes me.

You obviously don't have a wife who shares the game with you, plays hundreds of hours, and likes trolling.

Meh... if it's mostly related to stuff we already know is coming then I don't think I care enough to watch. That's a lot of time wasted to confirm that my excitement hasn't changed in a meaningful way.  I'm only curious if there is anything new.

That said, the eShop sales look hot.  Not sure if I want Bit.Trip on 3DS or not... would really rather play those games on Wii, but at $10 it's hard to pass up. Mutant Mudds and Crashmo look like clear "buys" also. Will have to check how much credit I've got left.

CaterkillerMatthew Osborne, Contributing WriterFebruary 14, 2013

Luigi's Mansion looks really solid, there seems to be so much more going on this time around. I'm excited about this one mat of all. When is it releasing, April?

It's coming out a little bit earlier, at the end of March.

March 24 in North America.

noname2200February 14, 2013

So TYP must feel like a pig in mud right about now.

Mop it upFebruary 14, 2013

This is more than I was expecting to see, I figured we'd just get some dates or something. It may be slow to start, but it looks like Nintendo's gearing up for a fantastic year overall.

EasyCureFebruary 14, 2013

Damn, even Iwata can't get a decent looking Luigi hat? It looks like that shitty Halloween costume you see frat boys wear.

ShyGuyFebruary 19, 2013

So I only watched the NOA direct and missed this piece of internet gold:
