If they brought this to US retail, I'd buy 4 of them on the spot.  Stop torturing us, NOA!

Could the SNES controller being similar to the Japanese controller in those two regions be why they received it and North America has not? I mean, they could use the same stock from Club Nintendo Japan and just print a Super Nintendo logo on it instead of a Super Famicom logo. They'd have to manufacture different coloured buttons for NA, and extra work is extra work...

Possibly... but what they don't realize/refuse to acknowledge is that most of us would like to have the controller without regard to which color buttons are on it...

Why has Nintendo not released retail versions of all their former controllers for use on the Wiimote? Why has SEGA and SNK not put out their similar controllers and why is there no TG16 controller that can work on the Wii? Why am I destined to use adapters to play my VC games?

Well, I believe the NES and SNES controllers have now been released in some form or fashion, and the N64 controller is not very popular among most people (and there are very few N64 games on the service to begin with).

As for the TurboGraffX and Genesis/Megadrive controllers, those are probably largely up to their respective companies.

Honestly, though, as cool as the novelty is of having an SNES controller accessory, I can't see myself using anything other than the Classic Controller Pro.  The Pro is just a perfect controller for all the games on the VC (save maybe the Genesis games, but that original controller was wonky to begin with), and frankly we design controllers better now than we did in the 80s and 90s as we've taken into account ergonomics and allowing for a wide variety of experiences.  I saw with the original Classic Controller that I don't like using controllers that don't have grip handles anymore, for instance.

Maybe we will luck out and this will be the Elite prize for Club N this year.

It looks like this version actually has the same "Super Nintendo" logo as on the PAL version - I got a JP one from Club Nintendo a few years back and it's my preference for almost all Virtual Consoling - that hasn't stopped me ordering a second now that they're here too.

I have to say, the workmanship on this is *superb* - it even feels like they've used the same plastics as the original model, with the controller having a slightly grainy/rough feel that's easy to grip. Any US fans wanting to snap one up on ebay, it's well worth the price. I hope you guys get one with your dual-tone gray button design soon, though.
