Topic: Sony Rep Says Wii more fun than PS3

It's a more fun, intuitive sort of product to pick up, where the PS3 is a broader entertainment solution; so you can have your fun, enjoyable gaming ... but then you have a whole suite of other applications ... such as Blu-ray media playback, the ability to access your music, access your photos and the interoperability with the PlayStation Portable."

Foster also felt that the console's delay will not affect its overall performance in the Australian market.

"Gamers are extremely aware of what they're after and what they want. So gamers will already have a very good understanding of what PlayStation 3 offers versus what Wii offers and many of them will probably have both devices."

You're right, Mr. Foster. Gamers are aware of what they want. But is that still the PlayStation 3? This is the burning question that will remain unanswered until 2007.Q]

I've seen this quote many times.  While funny, it was obviously not what the guy was trying to say.  I think he meant the sentence to be...

"It's a more fun, intuitive soft of approach, where the PS3 is a broader entertainment solution."

Whatever he may have meant, I think the key is that he said the Wii is "more fun."

One can only hope people see through Sony's crap this generation. When you buy a PS3 you are buying a damn Blu-Ray player not a gaming console. Thank god for Nintendo, honestly, without them gaming as we know it would be dead. Microsoft and especially Sony have turned gaming into an extension of multimedia, when IMO it is not. Lets just hope Nintendo can be successful enough with the Wii that they breath some new life into the gaming scene.

Very true. I think my general distaste is simply what gaming has been turned into. Sony is far more the culprit than Microsoft, and at least Microsoft has stated their intentions up front, like you point out Ceric. I just hope gaming doesn't lose its way in the generations to come, being diluted by the multimedia focus.

You guys think Panasonic might come out with a WiiQ this generation?
Maybe a high-end Wii with DVD(HD/BRD?) playback, a 200GB HDD and an exclusive DVR channel to access all those shows you recorded while you were busy playing with your Wii?

That wording doesn't fix it.  It still says "Wii is more fun."
