The graphical quality of Doom on the 32X was pretty close to the PC version. The thing was, the game had only 16 of the game's 27 levels, and the ones that were included were scaled back, and it was missing the BFG and the Cyberdemon. So even though the Super NES version has worse graphics, it has more levels and content.

We've seen part of this news before, but not the part where a large order was placed for the Quad-cores from Marvell

http://www.made2game.com/2010/11/06/rumour-quad-core-in-wii-2/
Quote
The processor powering Nintendo’s 3DS comes from Marvell Technologies group ltd, experts in microprocessor architecture and now the company has advised one of its largest customers has ordered vast quantities of Quad core processors, which are featured in the most capable computer systems

Dr. Sehat Sutardgja CEO of Marvell  Technologies had designated the  increase in sales of their Armada line to a “major customer preparing to launch a new gaming platform.”

Quad core processors due solely to their size and power, cannot be based in mobile systems, therefore, it is far more likely that this will be a home console. Since Microsoft and Sony are unlikely to announce the successors to their existing home consoles, the option lies at either a new competitor entering the fray or could it be Nintendo is planning something huge.

Only time will tell.

I would love to believe it and Quadcore processors aren't that expensive, but I would hope that it is a Quad PPC CPU so that there is some Wii/GC BC available for the Wii2 unless they are going so powerful that they could just emulate it..... which is fine with me too.

Would this quadcore give the Wii 2 360 comparable graphics? How much power would it consume?

Rumour: House of the Dead: Overkill Sequel on the Way
http://wii.nintendolife.com/news/2010/11/rumour_house_of_the_dead_overkill_sequel_on_the_way
Quote
Sources close to SEGA have revealed to Nintendo Life that a follow-up to SEGA's House of the Dead: Overkill is well under way and should be released sometime early or mid-2011.

Details on the game are still undisclosed, but what we've been told is that a title codenamed "House of the Dead: Overkill 2" is being worked on, which we assume is for Wii and potentially PSMove. SEGA has neither confirmed nor denied these claims, and our inquiry with the company was met with an expected "no comment on rumours and speculation" reply.

The original f-bomb record-holding title landed with fairly positive reviews, with fans asking SEGA for more from the London-based Headstrong Games.

Producer Neil McEwan appeared in an interview on the Nintendo Life Podcast back in Feb '09, saying the team would certainly be interested in doing more with the series if given the green light.

Rumor: NFL Blitz is making a comeback
« Reply #3040 on: November 20, 2010, 04:36:47 PM »
First NBA Jam and now NFL Blitz!!!
EA you try so hard to make me love, please don't **** it up this time

http://kotaku.com/5695083/ea-sports-rumored-to-revive-nfl-blitz
Quote
NBA Jam's critical success has led EA Sports to resurrect the beloved NFL Blitz series as well, Jeff Gerstmann reports over on Giant Bomb. Development is rumored to be underway, and the multiplatform game wouldn't release until 2012.

Gerstmann attributes the news to an industry insider and also his previous report that EA Sports, in acquiring the NBA Jam franchise from the remnants of Midway, also picked up "multiple Midway sports franchises," which includes NFL Blitz.

"It sounds like the game is going to be developed at EA's Tiburon studio," Gerstmann writes, "which makes sense both because it's where EA makes its football games and it's also where one of the creators of the Blitz series, Mark Turmell, is currently serving as the Senior Creative Director."

The only other sports game I have loved besides NBA Jam (if you don't count Tecmo Bowl back in the day).

NFL Blitz is still the best football game ever made. Let's just hope they intend to make this a multiplatform release from the outset so they can include all features in every version.

I've never really given NFL Blitz a good go.  I was not into football when it came out so I didn't get it.  Like I got the theoretical appeal but I just was not familiar enough with football rules or strategy to play it well.  I didn't follow the NBA when Jam first came out but I played basketball in school so I got it.  Now that I do follow football and I'm familiar with it I might enjoy NFL Blitz.

But wasn't the problem with that series that the NFL was not cool with the violent chaotic design of the game and thus forced each version to be less and less "extreme" and more like a sim?  From what I hear the Blitz games got worse and worse each year because of restrictions enforced by the NFL.  This is the No Fun League we're talking about here where you get penalties for "excessive celebrations".  In comparison the NBA has always been a little more wild and fun.

The NFL is run by a bunch of square dorks and will probably prohibit the game from being cool because it "tarnishes the image of the league".

If that's the case its pretty ironic seeing as how the players are 6'5" 300lb jocks who probably gave those same "square dorks" swirlies in high school. Now the dorks are calling the shots. Its the Revenge of the Dorks.

They eventually made a Blitz game without the NFL licence, so if they find it too restrictive to use it, they might make another without it. That game didn't sell very well I don't think, but it could be for a number of reasons.

THQ? It was Midway who published the games. The whole reason anyone liked Blitz was because of its "no rules" gameplay, so there'd be no point in making it more like a simulation when everyone knows Madden was the best.

The NFL really didn't like Blitz; Blitz was actually cited by the NFL as one of the reasons they approached EA with the offer of exclusivity. I'd be surprised if the NFL would let them bring it back without some major changes.
