Japan eShop Round-Up (08/03/2011)
« on: August 03, 2011, 06:18:20 AM »

Idols, VC games, and more this week on the eShop in Japan!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/feature/27347/japan-eshop-round-up-08032011

It has been another good week in Japan for software and video content releases. Two new 3DS download titles(and yes, the Japanese version of Let's Golf 3D has an exclamation point after Let's), two Virtual Console games, and a small handful of new video content awaits 3DS owners in Japan today. Here is a full list of what was released today in the Land of the Rising Sun:

3DS Downloadable Titles

Let's! Golf 3D – 1,000 yen

Nikoli no Puzzle Kakkuro – 500 yen

Nazo Waku Yakata Oto no Aida ni Aida ni – Dai Ichi – Hikaru Me (08/04) – 200 yen

Virtual Console

Nekkutsu KouKou Dodgeball-bu - Kyouteki Doukyu Senshi no Maki – 400 yen

Alleyway – 300 yen

Video Content

The highlight of the video content today comes from two videos featuring Japanese Idol/personality/singer/actress, Shoko Nakagawa. In the videos, she talks about Link, her first time playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as thoughts about the recently released 3D version. While talking about this, she draws an animé style Link based off of the Ocarina of Time artwork. One video focuses on her drawing the character and talking about various Zelda related topics (running a little shy of four minutes), while the other video is a collection of five 30 second commercials.

This week, the eShop also features a beefy streaming 3D preview video for Nazo Waku Yakata which runs a little over three and a half minutes long. The first part of the video appears to be the opening section of the game and follows a playful looking black cat as it makes its way to the mansion (Yakata is Japanese for mansion). From there, the video shows off various aspects of the game play, including using the gyro-sensors to search a room of the mansion by moving around, using your voice to cloth a topless manikin, and using the touch screen to clean off a dirty picture. The visuals are sharp and the voice work is excellent.

The Itsu no Ma ni Terebi channel continues to get daily updates, while the Nintendo Video application is running out of content. As of right now, the part two of the Kyoto tour video will be removed from the shop after today, leaving only one video, an updated Tokyo Girl Collection Spring/Summer video (more or less a fashion show in 3D). Both parts of the tour of Kyoto were absolutely amazing and it is going to be difficult for Nintendo to top it.

Software Impressions

As I promised last week, I purchased Pitman (Catrap outside of Japan) and spent a considerable amount of time with it. Pitman is a really awesome, thought provoking puzzle game that can easily be played in spurts – perfect for a handheld system. The game puts lets you choose between Pitboy and Pitgirl as you make your way through 100 rounds of puzzle platforming. There are times during the action when you will find yourself stuck, or to a point where continuing will not allow you to complete the level. That's where the “rewind” function of the game comes in handy. By pressing the A button, you are able to rewind to a previous point which can be all the way back to the beginning if necessary. The B button will fast-forward, just in case you went a little bit crazy with the rewind function. Later stages in the game give players the ability to toggle between both Pitboy and Pitgirl. I'm about 20 stages into the game and am really enjoying it.

From the selection of games this week, I decided to download Dodgeball (I'm putting down the official Japanese title again, as it is unnecessarily long). It's...well, it's Dodgeball. I have no sentimental attachments to this game, but quite frankly, I don't think the Game Boy version has aged very well. Visually, it looks fine, but sometimes the flashing black and white sprites can be a little irritating. Fans of the series would likely appreciate this game more than I have so far.

When she says, "Hey!" at the end of the first video, I wanted to fly to Japan and profess my love for her. Is that weird?

Her ears look like Zelda's, good fit for the ad!
In the video she said she loved how long Link's nose was and it made him so cool and handsome. (its a Jpse thing)

LittleIrves, if your nose is long, and you're cool and handsome, you have a chance!
