Why is this game worth honorably mentioning?
Chiefly because it's one of the best sports games on the system. I'd argue it's better than any of the Mario sports games on GameCube, and honestly, one of the superlative arcade sports games ever made. I've had just as many multiplayer memories with this game as I do Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Why didn't it make the Top 10?
Sega Soccer Slam wasn't widely played when it was released, despite reviewing rather well. I also think that arcade sports games are a niche genre, or at least one that most people don't see as amazing games. Stack up Soccer Slam to Wind Waker and it just doesn't really work out in Soccer Slam's favor.
What's your favorite moment in it?
The chants that are highlighted when you perform one of the spotlight kicks. Hearing random gibberish interspersed with "El Diablo! El Diablo!" is wonderful. The announcers are also a good mix of funny and annoying. They repeat their lines, but they never get too grating.
