I brought up the sword thing since being familiar with katanas, I was disappointed with the control when I played the demo last E3 since the sword didn't do exactly what you'd expect. They've had a while to improve controls, but recent interviews regarding how they designed the controls leave me worried -- it still seems like glorified gestures.
It's not 1-to-1, but, at least to me, it doesn't have to be. My logic is: If I'm supposed to be a bad-ass swordsman, how the **** could I use 1-to-1 controls? I'm not a bad-ass swordsman in the least. I freaking love the controls in this game, even if they could be labeled as glorified gestures. I still have to swing in every direction while playing, and not just pull a Racquet Sports and swing the same way for a forehand or backhand and get the same results.
While I'm not knowledgeable about technology, as far as my experience goes with Wii, they couldn't get the control they got with MotionPlus out of a regular Wii Remote. It's not tacked on (Yo Rage of the Gladiator! What's up?); the game works because of MotionPlus.
Also, my review's waiting for editing. If you can't tell, it's going to be outrageously positive. I love this game.
